SLOVAKIA | ROADTRIP TO BRATISLAVA

BRATISLAVA

We arrived in Bratislava after renting a car in Budapest, Hungary, in just over 2 hours we were already in the capital of Slovakia in a cold of -11. Bratislava is the capital and main city of Slovakia, located in the southwest of the country, close to the border with Austria and the border with Hungary, making it the only European capital located on the border of its country with two others.

It's true, Slovakia's capital may not be as surprising as Vienna, Prague, Budapest or even nearby Brno (one of the 52 places to go in 2016 by the New York Times) or not as cool as Kosice - Slovakia's second largest city but the city definitely has its moments and you just need to give Bratislava a chance for the city to surprise you!

The cold didn't let us enjoy the country's streets and culture as well, after all our destination was to arrive in Vienna to sleep and get to know the Austrian capital. The Old Town of Bratislava is really small, but very charming! The labyrinth of streets, the beautiful architecture typical for Central Europe, the countless cafes, restaurants and quirky sculptures.

The center of Bratislava is a peculiar mix of architecture. modernist housing next to the Soviet blocs, modern buildings, neighbors with those reminiscent of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Some streets seem to be forgotten, but at the same time an authentic country.

The roads from Hungary to the Czech Republic passing through Slovakia are great and double, and despite it snowing a lot we were able to travel with great quality on double roads.

FINAL TIPS
