NORWAY | WHAT TO DO IN OSLO?

We didn't know what to expect from Oslo, other than that it was expensive and a modern city, but nevertheless, we were really looking forward to it. And Oslo really surprised us, we got there after visiting Copenhagen and everything it lacks in beautiful, old architecture - it makes up for in livability, especially with lots of nice restaurants. The city is an armed robbery for Brazilian pockets, the local currency is overvalued, but it's worth the visit! For us, this trip was mostly about relaxing and enjoying ourselves, but there is still so much to see in this city! Below you can find some things you must see and do when visiting Oslo.

1. Go for a walk along the coast

Since Oslo is located on the Oslo Fjord, it has a beautiful orb where you can walk for hours. If you start on the east side of the city, near the Opera, you can easily walk for an hour or two along the water to the Aker Brygge, which is on the west side of the city. It doesn't matter if it's cloudy or sunny, the walk is beautiful at any time of year, but of course, a little more enjoyable during the summer when everyone is outside enjoying the sun.

2. Visit the many museums

Get an Oslo Pass where you have free access to the city's many museums. The Scream is one of Norwegian artist Edvard Munch's most famous paintings, so be sure to visit the place. But there are also many other Museums that are worth your time! Especially on a cloudy and rainy day, this is a great alternative!

3. Visit the Opera House

Lying in the central train station and above the water, the Oslo Opera House is a beautiful architectural masterpiece. It looks like a floating iceberg and as a guest you often have access to all areas unless a politician comes to visit. You also have a beautiful view of the opera house and there is also a delicious restaurant.

4. Escape The City: Frognerseteren and Holmenkollen

Holmenkollen is known for the Ski Jump Tower, but apart from this attraction, it is located outside the city and next to nature. From here, you have great opportunities to walk in the forest and leave the stress of the city behind. Many residents come here on weekends to escape city life for a few hours and be in nature with their children. For Norwegians, nature is very important and therefore you will find Frognerseteren and Holmenkollen to be very popular.

5. Visit the NorkFolk Museum

Give me an open-air museum where they reconstruct life and culture from a few hundred years ago. We love visiting museums where you can really see what life was like a long time ago. The Folketmuseet (folk museum) is gigantic, with beautiful wooden "villages", a famous church, but also a more modern part where you can see how Oslo looked around 1950. It's definitely worth the money, you'll walk through hours.
