FRANCE | FROM CROISSANT TO LOUVRE

PARIS

Paris is beautiful, romantic and the tourist attractions are attractive. The people are not very receptive. We went through two situations that should be shared with our backpacker friends on duty. For information, try to only get information from those who are working to provide it. We stopped to ask for information and the man said very clearly and in a good tone: I don't have time for information. Yes! It was shocking! I confess that after that I was left feeling a bit silly about Paris and it is not a place that is on our return list. Another situation was that the city has many scams involving tourists, we are even embarrassed to share, but stay tuned! There is a group of men who know each other but pretend not to know each other, applying magic for money, we lost 50 euros on the joke, don't participate in anything that is questionable...

WHAT TO KNOW

Apart from this situation, there are many cool things. Cute cafes, the Eiffel tower was beautiful and shining as it was Christmas time. Monalisa is small and very popular. We found the Louvre museum a little expensive, but as we wanted to skip Paris we chose to invest and visit the famous Mona, (around 35 euros each, but as we paid 5 euros, this was heavy for a backpacker way).

FROM NOTRE DAME TO LOUVRE, FROM LOUVRE TO EIFFEL TOWER WALKING

We had a beautiful walk: Notre Dame Cathedral > Louvre > Eiffel Tower > Champ de Mars > Arc de Triomphe > Champs Élysées. It was more than 10 kilometers without realizing it, getting to know the best of the central part of Paris.

Notre Dame de Paris Cathedral – the scene of several important events, such as the coronation of Emperor Napoleon (by himself), Notre Dame de Paris receives up to 10 million visitors every year. Both the interior and exterior of the church are beautiful!

Louvre Museum – one of the most famous museums in the world, the Louvre houses extremely important works of art, such as the Mona Lisa, by Leonardo da Vinci, as well as sculptures such as Venus de Milo and The Slaves, by Michelangelo. There are more than 30 thousand treasures, including paintings, sculptures, engravings and various objects.

Eiffel Tower – Needs no introduction, right? The world-famous French monument, created by engineer Gustave Eiffel, was inaugurated in 1889. The tower is 300 meters high, weighs 7.3 thousand tons of iron and receives millions of visitors every year. Don't forget to climb to the top and admire one of the most beautiful views of Paris!

Champ de Mars - is one of the largest green areas in Paris. This beautiful space for contact with nature is a park, an environment to walk, feel good, breathe a little fresher air.

Arc de Triomphe – the monument near the Champs-Elysées Avenue is 50 meters high and has several sculptures attached to the pillars. On the walls of the place – one of the most famous spots in the French capital – the names of battles and war generals are also engraved.

Avenue Champs-Elysées – La plus belle avenue du monde, in literal translation, “The most beautiful avenue in the world”, the Champs-Elysées is one of the busiest and most expensive addresses in Paris. It's 1,910 meters long, full of shops of all types, cinemas, cafes and restaurants, Rafa was in a great store with futuristic cars, it's a street to walk around.

As we had 3 days in Paris we still visited the

The Luxembourg Garden or Jardin du Luxembourg is the largest public park in the city of Paris with more than 224 thousand m², located in the 6th arrondissement. The Sacred Heart Basilica is a temple of the Roman Catholic Church in Paris, and is also the symbol of the Monte Martre neighborhood. The basilica is located at the top of Mount Martre, the highest point in the city. The Orsay Museum is a museum in the city of Paris, France. It is located on the left bank of the River Seine in the VII arrondissement.

But the beauty of Paris is in the air, in the cuisine, you don't want to know what to do in Paris, just be in Paris and it will be enough to enjoy the Parisian vibe.

FOOD

We ate French macarons, went to a very affordable restaurant and ate delicious pasta. Getting this order was very difficult because the waiter didn't speak English and there was no internet so we could try to use a Google translator. He took some ingredients to show us, it was time consuming and confusing. But I don't know how we managed to understand the menu a little and point to what we wanted. We ended up eating reasonably well when we traveled to France, in very simple and cheap places. Furthermore, the ingredients are of excellent quality.

Don't forget to eat pasta, pizza, macaroons, waffles with nutella, crepes, sweets at the Pâtisserie, and the famous typical Parisian breakfast consists of espresso, orange juice and croissant. Croissant that gives its name to the title of this report because it was the best croissant we've ever eaten.

FINAL TIPS

How many days does it take to visit Paris?

We did everything from Paris in 3 days, but our rhythm was to wake up at 7am and sleep at midnight, so I think our pace was a little frantic. If you're going for the first time, try to reserve at least 5 days, if you have 7, even better, to do everything calmly.

To get around Paris: METRO! I often say that Paris was made for you to look from the side and always see a station.

Brazilians do not need a visa to go to France (in fact, to any country in the European Union). Only passport valid for at least another 3 months after return date. Stay of up to 90 days.

To enter Europe it is mandatory to have the Schengen certificate (a basic insurance). Many credit cards issue this certificate free of charge if you have paid for the ticket with it (don't forget to request it in advance).

The currency is Euro (bring it in change). See quote here (Bloomberg).

The language is French. A lot of people say that locals don't speak English... They even speak it, but they don't like it.

Enjoy Paris!
